Virginia DB Likely Staying Close to Home

Hampton, Va. corner prospect Jamar Jackson is being recruited by a number of top schools. The 5-9, 180-pound Jackson already has three offers under his belt and more are likely on the way. Do the Irish have a shot at Jackson?

Jamar Jackson says he already has three offers. "Virginia, Virginia Tech and Maryland have offered me," said Jackson. "North Carolina State, Wake Forest, Marshall, Penn State, Notre Dame and Alabama are some of the schools recruiting him."

A few schools have already been by his school. "Maryland stopped by today. Virginia Tech was here earlier," said Jackson. "I haven't got a lot of calls yet. I think that comes at the end of the month."

The Irish have been recruiting Jackson pretty steadily. "They send me letters. They haven't called me of stopped by yet," Jackson said.

Do the Irish have a shot at Jackson? "I like them a little. It's kind of far away. It's a good college, but I was planning on staying close to home. We'll see what happens."

Jackson says he'll likely decide sometime in the fall. "I plan on taking my visits," he said. "I'll decide in the fall sometime. I'm not sure when. I just want to find a place that I feel comfortable."

Jackson has a self-reported 2.7 in his core. He has taken his test but has yet to receive his score.

Comments: Jackson appears pretty set on staying close to home. He did say that Virginia and Virginia Tech were his top two because they were close to home. Notre Dame will probably still try to see if they can gain his interest. We'll keep an eye on him and see if he changes his mind.
