California Lineman Likes Irish

Bakersfield, California is home to OL/DT prospect Jacob Hickman. At 6'4" and 250 pounds, Hickman recorded 66 tackles and 13 sacks as a junior at Centennial High School. He has been receiving interest from all over the country. Has he heard from Notre Dame?

"I have written offers from UCLA, Arizona State and Washington State," said Hickman. "USC and Nebraska are sending me a lot of mail and Arizona seems like they're close to offering."

Has he heard from Notre Dame? "I've been getting letters from them. They called my coach and told him they would be coming out to see me during Spring Ball."

Is he interested in the Irish? "Yes sir, I'm very interested. I've always been a Notre Dame fan. I grew up watching Rudy. I went to their campus when I was 7 years old…it was amazing. I've got all the banners on my wall. I even have a brick from the old stadium."

Is he planning to go to Notre Dame's camp this summer? "I'd like too, but it's a long trip and I don't know if I can afford it. I'd love to go though."

Does he have a top 5? "My top 5 right now (in no particular order) are Notre Dame, USC, UCLA, Arizona State and Nebraska."

Hickman intends to take all of his official visits before making a decision. "There are a lot of factors I'll be looking at. I'll look at the academics and the education of course. I'll look at the prestige of the program and the University. There are going to be a lot of factors."

Jacob has a self-reported 3.4 grade point average and is awaiting his results from the SAT.

Comments: Hickman is very high on the Irish. Notre Dame appears to have an interest in him as well. We know that defensive tackle will be a priority for the Irish this recruiting season. Most schools are recruiting Hickman to play DT. The Irish should have an excellent chance of landing this recruit should they choose to offer.
