McGillicuddy Has Four Offers

Worcester, Mass. is home to defensive line prospect James McGillicuddy. The 6-3, 290-pound McGillicuddy is starting to gain interest from school across the country. Is McGillicuddy interested in the Irish? Are the Irish recruiting him? Where will he be camping this summer?

James McGillicuddy had an impressive junior season. "I had 80 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, six sacks and two forced fumbles," said McGillicuddy. "I just ran a 5.04 at the Penn State Nike camp."

A number of schools have been recruiting James. "I have offers from Boston College, Duke, Syracuse and UConn right now," said McGillicuddy. "Notre Dame, Maryland, Wisconsin, Michigan, Virginia, Mississippi State, Oregon and Stanford are some of the schools recruiting me."

Quite a few coaches have already called or stopped by his school. "Boston College, Syracuse, UConn, Maryland and Duke have been by the school," he said. "Boston Collegen, Syracuse, UConn, Notre Dame and Mississippi State have called me."

McGillicuddy said he's spoken with Bob Simmons recently. "I spoke with him last week," McGillicuddy said. "He said he'd be stopping by my school. I liked him. They're one of my top schools."

James has also made some summer plans. "I've already been to Virginia and Boston College on summer visits, said McGillicuddy. "I plan to attend Notre Dame camp this summer, and I'll stop by Duke for an unofficial visit there."

Don't expect an early decision from McGillicuddy. "I plan to take my time with this," he said. "I'll probably take most of my visits. Academics will be very important in my decision. The football program and doing things the right way will also be important."

Does James have a top five? "I'd say I have a top four. Boston College, Notre Dame, Harvard and Duke," he said.

McGillicuddy is also an outstanding student with a 3.33 in honors classes and he scored an 1170 on his S.A.T.

Comments: It appears that Boston College will be the main competition for the Irish. He's been to Boston College because they are only 45 minutes away from his home. His brother also attends school there (not as a football player). James seems pretty interested in Notre Dame. We'll have to wait and see if the Irish offer. Top Stories
