Michael Ray Garvin had an impressive junior season playing on both sides of the ball. "On defense, I had four interceptions, two that I returned for touchdowns, and 45 tackles," said Garvin. "On offense, I had 30 carries for around 600 yards. I had 18 touchdowns total."
The doors of Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey New Jersey have been swinging wide with coaches lately to see Garvin and a few of his teammates. Garvin's gotten plenty of attention from the coaches. "I have 33 offers now. From schools across the country," he said.
The Irish have offered Michael Ray and he says he's interested. "They've offered me in writing. I met with Coach Willingham. He came by the school with Coach Simmons. I really liked Coach Willingham. He's a nice guy, really down to earth.
"It's a pretty good school," he said of Notre Dame. I'm considering going to Notre Dame."
Michael Ray has his summer plans planned out. "I plan on taking unofficial visits to 10 schools. Those ten schools would be my top schools right now. I plan on going to see Oklahoma, Nebraska, Kansas State, Colorado, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Virginia, Maryland, Virgina Tech and Notre Dame."
We asked Garvin what would be important to him when making his decision. "Academics will be important," said Garvin. "That and the location, just the general area and how comfortable I feel there."
A decision could come sometime in the fall according to Garvin. "I plan to make my decision right after my season. I plan to take my official visits."
Comments: Michael Ray seems pretty wide open at this point. He does seem to have a solid plan on taking his summer visits and the Irish appear to be on the summer tour list. We'll probably know more after he takes his unofficial visits.
