Vaughn Excited to Get Started

Irish wide receiver recruit Chris Vaughn has graduated from high school and now turns his attention to Notre Dame. The 6-5, 210-pound Vaughn says he's excited about the future and can't wait to get started.

Christopher Vaughn says he's glad high school is a memory at this point. "We graduated last Thursday," said Vaughn. "It felt great. I went to all boys school and a boarding school as well so I'm glad to be out of there."

Vaughn says he's bee focused on football ever since he signed his letter of intent to attend Notre Dame in the fall. "I've been working out with my mentor every day," Vaughn said. "We lift and we do a lot of running. The Notre Dame coaches gave me a work out plan so we do that, and I do some extra stuff my mentor has me do."

The Connecticut native has also been to South Bend a couple of times. He spent time with the Irish during spring practice and came back to watch the spring game. "I had a real good time," said Vaughn of his thoughts on the spring game. "Brady (Quinn) looked real good. I thought the receivers looked real good as well."

While Vaughn says he was impressed with the Irish receivers, he believes he has a chance to play early. "I do think I have a chance to play early," said Vaughn. Coach Miles has given a lot of tapes to watch their routes and how they run them. I work on that a lot. We talked after the spring game and he told me what he expects of me. I think I have a chance to play early."

Vaughn says he's also had the chance to meet a number of his future teammates. "I already met David Wolke because he was at the same practices I was," Vaughn said. "I also met Ronaly Talley, Abdel Banda, Anthony Vernaglia and Tregg Duerson. They were all great guys. I already knew (Junior) Jabbie, (Leo) Ferrine and Darius Walker from my visit. I think I'll get along real well with everyone."

It sounds like Ronald Talley will have a work out partner this summer as well. "I plan on going out there on June 24th," said Vaughn when asked if he were visiting Notre Dame again this summer. "I'll work out there all summer. I'm ready to go. I can't wait to get started."

Vaughn already has plenty of size, and his film showed he has nice soft hands. He'll remind Irish fans of Maurice Stovall on the field and could have a chance to contribute like Stovall did as a freshman. We expect to see a lot of Vaughn on the field for the Irish in the future.
