Small To Camp At Notre Dame

There are plenty of well known, and quality players that will be attending Notre Dame's summer camp. Eric Small is among them. The 6'2 250lb MLB prospect from Illinois will be making another stop this month in South Bend after making a previous visit earlier in the spring.

After a junior season with 100 tackles, and 10 sacks from his middle linebacker position, Eric Small will be taking his skills on the road this summer stopping in South Bend to show his stuff on the gridiron. Although he does not have any offers yet, he's been getting a lot of attention lately. We asked Small who's been showing him the most attention lately? "I've been hearing a lot from Notre Dame, Illinois, Wisconsin, Bowling Green and Northern Illinois" said Small.

Small has had a busy spring so far. He's had a few unofficial visits so far, and plans for more. "I've taken visits to Notre Dame, Iowa, Northwestern, and Michigan State. I plan to visit Bowling Green too" said Small.

We asked Small what he thought about his visit to Notre Dame? "I absolutely loved it. It was great. The whole atmosphere, and tradition was awesome."

The Notre Dame coaches seem to be doing a good job recruiting Small particularly Coach Mattison who Small really likes. "I talk to Coach Mattison a lot. He's great" said Small laughing. "He's a really good guy. Very down to earth."

With a self reported GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale, and a 26 ACT score, Small is fully qualified. He also knows what he wants in a school. "I'll be looking at the school itself. To see how I fit in. I'll also be looking at how well I get along with the coaches, and if I'll be able to play. I'd like to sign before the season, but if it doesn't go my way, I'll just wait and see what happens."

Comments: Middle Linebacker is a position the Irish need quality numbers at. The Irish coaches will get a chance to see Small first hand at camp. If they offer Small, expect the Irish to jump in the drivers seat for his services.
