Dray Up to 11 Offers

Oradell, N.J. tight end prospect James Dray has seen his stock take off this spring and summer. The 6-4, 230-pound Dray already has 11 offers under his belt. Have the Irish offered Dray? What are his thoughts on Notre Dame? We spoke with Dray to find out his summer plans.

James Dray has been seeing a lot of the Fed Ex man lately. "I have offers from Stanford, Boston College, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Rutgers, U. Conn, Iowa, Nebraska, Purdue and Vanderbilt," said Dray. "A bunch of other schools are also recruiting me."

The Irish have also been recruiting Dray. "They have been recruiting me," said Dray of Notre Dame. "I get a lot of letters. They talked to my coach and said they'd be offering, but I haven't seen anything yet."

Dray also says he's interested in Notre Dame. "I'm definitely interested in Notre Dame," Dray said. "I'm Irish Catholic so my whole family wants me to go to Notre Dame."

Dray says he plans to make a number of unofficial visits this summer. "I plan on going to see a lot of schools," he said. "I'd like to get out to the West coast and check out some schools there. I'll make a Midwest trip and stop by Notre Dame and schools in the area. I really don't know when I'm doing that yet though."

The Bergan Catholic star says he'd like to end his recruiting soon. "I'd like to make my decision before my season," said Dray. "I'll see if I can get that done after visiting these schools."

Most schools are recruiting Dray to play tight end, even though he's also an outstanding defensive end. "Tight end is what most are saying," Dray said. "Academics will be the most important factor. Where I play and how early will also be important. I want to play tight end in college."

Comments: The Irish haven't offered Dray yet, but they appear to be recruiting him heavily. We should get an idea of where he stands soon after his unofficial visits. We'll check back with him later.
