Korte Hitting the Camp Circuit

Grand Rapids, Mich. linebacker Tom Korte has had a busy summer. The 6-1, 225-pound Korte has been playing baseball, and is starting to hit summer camps at the local colleges. Where will Korte be camping this summer? Will he attend Notre Dame camp? Irish Eyes found out.

Tom Korte had an impressive junior season on both sides of the ball. "I recorded 130 tackles on defense," said Korte. "And I rushed for 951 yards as a fullback. I played inside linebacker on defense. Most schools are recruiting me as an inside linebacker."

Korte says he's still waiting for his first offer to come. "I've been playing baseball, and that hasn't really helped me get ready for camps. The colleges put a lot of stock in 40 times so I've been trying to get prepared for that."

Korte says he's already attended a couple of camps. "I've already attended camp at Central Michigan," said Korte. "I just got back from Michigan. "I'm going to Notre Dame camp next week. I'll go to Northwestern for a day, and I might go to camp at Boston College."

The Irish have been actively recruiting Korte. "They've been recruiting me hard," said Korte of Notre Dame. "Coach Denbrock and I keep in touch all the time. I just talked to him today to let him know I was attending their camp. I really like him--he's a good guy. I like Notre Dame a lot. He says they like me as a football player. They like me at both fullback and linebacker. They just like me as a football player."

Korte says he has no idea when he'll decide. "I really don't know. I don't have any offers yet. We'll see what happens after I attend some camps. I really don't know when I'll decide."

Korte is also a solid student with a 3.6 g.p.a and he recently scored a 23 on his ACT. He also took the same test again to try to improve his score.

Comments: Korte might be a guy to keep an eye on as a fullback or linebacker. He's attending camp so we should get a good idea how interested Notre Dame will be in Korte shortly.
