Mark Sanchez recently returned from an unofficial visit to Texas and the Longhorns have jumped right in the race for his signature. "It was amazing," said Sanchez of his unofficial visit to Texas. "It's going to make the decision process even tougher. I really liked it there."
Today's rumor had Ohio State and Texas now leading the race for Sanchez. "I'd say I'm still pretty open at this point," said Sanchez. "I don't have any leaders."
The Irish remain in the race with a recent offer to Sanchez. "It came in the mail by Fed Ex on Friday," said Sanchez. "They are definitely still in contention."
The Irish might have a small problem, however, Sanchez has yet to speak with offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Bill Diedrick. "No I haven't," was Sanchez' response when asked if he had spoken with Diedrick. "Yes, it's important," was Sanchez' response when asked if the player/coach relationship between he and his offensive coordinator was important to him.
"It's unfortunate that we didn't get to meet him," said Sanchez of his trip to Notre Dame and not being able to meet Diedrick. "We had it scheduled, but we showed up a day late and didn't get to meet him."
Next on the plate for Mark is sitting down with his family to discuss his choices. "We'll sit down probably by the end of this week," Sanchez said. "I could decide at any time. It will be just when I feel comfortable with my decision."
Comments: We can't see how the Irish are a real player in this race. Sanchez admits he doesn't have a relationship with Diedrick at this point, and we can't imagine him choosing Notre Dame without building some sort of relationship. Stranger things have happened, however.
