Jonathan Stewart says he's been enjoying his summer vacation. "I've just been hanging out and relaxing," said Stewart. "I work out and lift and run a lot, but it's nice to relax a bit."
Stewart has been to a few schools recently. "I went to Central Washington's camp with my team," said Stewart. "I then went to Washington State's camp. I also went to the Nike Camp at Oregon."
The star running back has picked up a host of offers since May. "Duke, Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, Washington State, Stanford and Cal have offered me," said Stewart. "I think that's it. That's all I can remember right now."
The Irish have not offered Stewart at this point. "Their coaches came by my school and said to just give them time," said Stewart. "I don't know if that was because they didn't have my SAT scores or what. They haven't offered me though."
We asked Stewart if he remained interested in Notre Dame. "Yeah, I'm interested in Notre Dame. They haven't offered me though. I'd consider them more if they offered me."
As of now, Stewart says he does have a list of top schools. "Washington State, Oregon, Cal, Florida State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Miami and Tennessee are the schools I'm considering right now," Stewart said.
Stewart says he'd like to stay close to home, but he's not sure if that will happen. "I'd like to stay close to my Mom, but I'm leaving it up to God," said Stewart. "He's already helped me eliminate a few schools."
When will Stewart be making his decision? "Whenever I know for sure," said Stewart. "I'm going to take my official visits and whenever I know for sure, that's when I'll commit.
"I'm just looking for a good environment. I want to find a place where I can play early. I don't have to play as a freshman, but I'd like to play the next year. I'm also looking for a good church so I can stay close to God."
Comments: The Irish remain a school under consideration with Stewart. They'll have to offer soon to remain in the race, however. We'll check back in a while and see if the Irish offer Stewart.
