Henderson Enjoying the Ride

Defensive end prospect Raymond Henderson is enjoying his summer vacation. The Oak Creek, Wis. native has had a busy spring and summer, and says he's enjoying the ride so far. Henderson recently returned from an unofficial visit to Miami. We spoke with Henderson to get his thoughts on that trip, and to find out what his plans are for making his final decision.

Raymond Henderson couldn't be happier with life right now. "Things have been going excellent," said Henderson. "I've been enjoying my summer. I'm lifting and running, and I'm working."

Henderson has been putting his size to good use. "I'm working at Menards," said Henderson. "They are using my strength--having me throw some stuff around. Just basically stocking stuff."

The Wisconsin native didn't attend any camps this summer. "I didn't attend any camps, but I went to Miami on an unofficial visit," said Henderson. "It was pretty nice down there. I liked the coaches down there. I have some family that lives there so that was nice."

The Irish have also been keeping in touch with Henderson. "I haven't spoken to them for a while," said Henderson. "It's mainly been e-mail, but I keep in touch with them all the time. I'm going to call coach Willingham here soon. I think I'm going to go to the Notre Dame-Michigan game."

Henderson has his plan in place for making his final decision. "I'm going to take it to the wire," said Henderson. "I'm going to take my official visits, and then I'm going to decide on the last day. That's my plan."

We asked Henderson if he had seven or eight schools standing out right now in his mind. "No, not really," he said. "I really don't have any favorites. I probably won't narrow it down until later. I want to give all the schools a chance to recruit me."

Comments: It sounds as if Irish fans are going to have a very long time before knowing where Raymond Henderson will end up. The Irish do appear in good shape as Henderson seems to really like Tyrone Willingham and Greg Mattison. We'll check back with Henderson later to see if he still plans to make the trip to Notre Dame for the Michigan game.
