Crum Excited About Future Home

Tampa, Fla. linebacker prospect Maurice Crum is counting down the days until he reports to Notre Dame. What has Crum been up to this summer?

Maurice Crum has always been a working man since we first began talking to him last summer. Crum orgionally worked at Burger King during the season last fall, but has moved up in the world. "I've been working," Crum said. "I'm working as a camp counselor at a Y.M.C.A.. It's been a lot of fun so far. No more Burger King for me." As a former taco slinger, I can relate.

Work has not been the only thing going on for Crum. "I've been working out quite a bit," Crum said. "I've been doing the workout they sent me. That will wear you out pretty good."

Crum said he's made some gains with the workout. "I'm still six foot, but I'm up to 215 right now," he said. "I feel like I'm stronger and also faster."

School is also over for Crum and that was a cause for a big celebration. "I was very excited to graduate," he said. "All of my family was there. I was looking forward to that. We all went out to eat afterwards."

Next on the list for Crum is reporting to Notre Dame. "I have my flight scheduled for August 6th," Crum said. "I'm really looking forward to it. It's like the next chapter in your life. I'm sure I'll miss home the first week, but I'll get used to it. I can't wait to get up there and get started."

We asked Crum if he's set any goals for his first season. "Not really," he said. "I just want to improve. I want to improve from one day to the next and the rest will take care of itself."

We're excited to see Crum for the first time in August. We've heard a lot of good things about his game and we're excited to finally see him in action. Could he be the next Brandon Hoyte? Stay tuned... Top Stories
