A.J. Trump says he's been thinking about making an early commitment. "I haven't made up my mind yet," said Trump when asked if he might make an early decision. "I've been talking it out with my parents. I'd like to commit early, but my parents want me to wait and have something to compare it to."
Trump says the talks continue with his parents on making an early decision. "We're still discussing it," Trump said. "They just want to make sure that I make the right decision. We'll keep talking about it and I might end up making an early decision."
Last time we spoke to Trump, he told us that he wanted to take another unofficial visit to Florida State before deciding between the Seminoles and the Irish. "I haven't made that trip yet," he said. "I plan on going. Hopefully I'll go to an early game at Florida State and get a feel. That's probably what I'll end up doing."
Trump says he's pretty sure he'll end up at either Notre Dame or Florida State at this point, but other teams still have a chance. "I'm pretty much down to Notre Dame and Florida State," Trump said. "I'm also looking at teams like Florida, Georgia, Maryland and a few others. I don't want to completely rule anyone out yet."
We asked Trump if he had a leader at this point. "As I said before, it's pretty much either Florida State or Notre Dame," Trump said. "I'd have to say that Notre Dame might be a little out in front right now."
Comments: A.J. told me that his wishes were to commit early, but his parents would like him to wait. We do think he'll probably take an unofficial to Florida State before deciding. Trump or Georgia's Paul Duncan look to be the most likely offensive linemen to make an early decision. The Irish have to hope they can land at least one of either Trump or Duncan early because offensive line is a big need for the Irish in this recruiting campaign.
