Nickerson Set For Unofficial Visit to Notre Dame

Irving, Tex. defensive back Brent Nickerson is set to make his unofficial visit to Notre Dame. The 6-0, 185-pound corner prospect is up to 16 offers in this early recruiting season. Will Nickerson be making an early decision? Are the Irish his leader? Could he be the next Irish commitment?

Brent Nickerson is set to make his unofficial visit to Notre Dame. "We are actually going on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week--the 27th and 28th," Nickerson said of his visit to South Bend. "I'm really looking forward to it."

When we last spoke to Nickerson, he told us if everything went well at Notre Dame, he might end up committing to the Irish. "Yes sir, that is the still the case," Nickerson said. "I just want to check out the school and get a better feel for Notre Dame."

We asked Nickerson what he would be looking for on his unofficial visit. "I just want to see how well I get along with the coaches, how the players get along with the coaches and how comfortable I feel with everything," Nickerson said. "I'll also see how I fit in with the players and get a good feel for the school and how I'd fit in there."

Nickerson says he's been keeping in contact with coach Mattison all summer. "We e-mail me each other all the time," Nickerson said. "They know I'm coming. I'll be going up with my Mother."

Nickerson says he's up to 16 offers already. "Iowa was my latest offer," said Nickerson. "Oklahoma State, UCLA, Texas Tech and Kansas State are some of the other schools I'm interested in. They've all offered me."

Comments: It's pretty obvious Notre Dame has an excellent shot to land Nickerson. His visit will likely be the deciding factor. We'll check back with Nickerson after his visit to get the verdict.
