Henderson Enjoys Irish Game Experience

Oak Creek, Wisc. defensive lineman Raymond Henderson is off to a quick start with his senior season. The 6-5, 255-pound defensive end prospect also recently visited Notre Dame for the classic Notre Dame-Michigan battle last Saturday. We spoke to Henderson to find out the latest on his season, and his trip to Notre Dame. What did Henderson think of the Irish victory over Michigan?

Wisconsin defensive end Raymond Henderson has seen his Oak Creek high school team off to a fast start.

"My team is 3-0 right now," said Henderson. "I think I have five sacks in 3 games so far."

Henderson has also started setting up his official visits with his first scheduled next week.

"I was going to Tennessee this weekend, but that didn't work out," said Henderson. "My first official visit will be to LSU next weekend."

Henderson did take in the Notre Dame-Michigan game last weekend and came away impressed with the Irish game atmopshere.

"I had a lot of fun at the game," said Henderson. "The fans were great. I loved the game atmosphere there. I got to speak with coach Willingham and coach Mattison right before the game. They told me they were going to get a win and they really wanted me to come to Notre Dame."

Henderson attended the game with teammate Travis Beckum. We asked Henderson what the Irish staff had to say to Beckum.

"Travis talked to coach Willingham as well," said Henderson. "He told him 'I'm pushing hard for you Travis. I'm going to push very hard to get you in.' We both had a great time at the game."

Like offensive lineman Dace Richardson and Dan Doering, Henderson also found himself being thrown up in the air after an Irish touchdown.

"They threw me up first, then Dace, then Dan," the star defensive end said. "I had to help them with Dan. We had to throw him up there 28 times. I said I got my workout in after that one."

The Wisconsin native also experienced the excitement on the field after the game.

"We didn't have a choice, we had to rush the field or we would've been crushed," said Henderson. "Everyone was coming down from the stands. It was a lot of fun."

Next on Henderson's to-do list is to schedule some official visits.

"I plan to set my official visits in the next few weeks," said Henderson. "I plan to take two during the season to get the game atmosphere and the other three after the season."

Will Notre Dame land an official visit from Henderson?

"I'd say it's quite possible," said Henderson. "I really liked my visit there. I'll set them up soon."

We asked Henderson which schools he was considering for official visits.

"I'd say Miami, LSU, Tennessee, Iowa, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Nebraska and USC if they come through with an offer."

Comments: Henderson appeared to really enjoy his visit to Notre Dame for the game. We do expect Notre Dame to get an official visit from Henderson. We're not sure what will happened with Beckum. We'll check back in a few weeks to see if Henderson has scheduled a visit with Notre Dame.
