Melbourne, Fla. prospect Ray Herring has been working on setting up his official visits lately.
"I have two official visits set already," said Herring. "I'm going to Notre Dame on December 3rd and Georgia Tech on December 10th.
"I'm working on setting up a visit to Tennessee right now. I should have that visit set up real soon."
We asked Herring what other schools he was considering for an official visit at this point.
"Besides those three, Maryland and Florida probably," Herring said. "All of them have offered me but Florida. If Florida doesn't come through with an offer, I'll look at maybe Pitt, North Carolina, Ohio State or maybe Oklahoma State or someone like that."
The Irish are actively recruiting Herring, and he says he's forming a solid relationship with the Notre Dame coaching staff.
"I talk to coach Miles all the time," said Herring. "He's recruiting me, but I also talk to coach Wilks quite a bit. I'm supposed to talk to coach Willingham this week sometime."
The Willingham conversation won't be his first according to Herring.
"I've spoken to him before," said Herring. "I really like him. I really like the Notre Dame coaching staff. They're really good people."
Georgia Tech is also a team that Herring has high on his list. We asked the Florida native what about Georgia Tech appeals to him.
"I really like the city it's in," Herring said. "The coaches are really nice. I also think I have a chance to play there early."
We asked Herring if he planned to take all of his visits after his season, and if when planned to announce his decision.
"I'll take all my visits after the season," he said. "I'll probably announce my decision after all my official visits. I think I'll take them all. We'll see."
Comments: Herring has been a top Irish target for a long time. He seems to be very interested in Notre Dame at this point. It appears the Irish and Georgia Tech are his top two at this point. I don't expect him to make an early decision.
