Tight end prospect Jeff Cottam is having a solid senior season so far.
"Our team is 6-3 right now," said Cottam. "I think I have 10 catches for around 150 yards on offense. I think I have around 50 tackles and two sacks on defense."
Cottam estimates he has around 15 offers at this point.
"I can't remember them all," he said. "North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Ole. Miss, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Missouri and Mississippi State are a few of them."
The Irish had been recruiting Cottam. We asked if that was still the situation.
"I get some mail, but they haven't called in a while," he said. "I'm hoping to hear from them again soon."
As of now, Cottam has set two official visits for games coming very soon.
"I'm visiting Tennessee for the Notre Dame game, and I'm also visiting Auburn for the Georgia game," said Cottam. "I know I'll visit Ole. Miss for sure. I want to visit Notre Dame so I hope they call me, and I might visit Alabama. I'm not sure on my final two yet."
The 6-7, 255-pound Cottam says he plans to take all five visits before deciding.
"I don't know when I'll make my final decision. It will be when I feel I've found the right school," said Cottam. "I'll set up the rest of my visits for after my season. Probably in December and January."
"I'm look at the coaching staff and how I fit in with the team," said Cottam when asked what he would look for when choosing a school. "I'll also look to get a chance to play early. I want to get into the lineup soon so that will be important."
Comments: The Irish haven't talked to Cottam much recently. That might change with Joey Hiben choosing Purdue this week. We'll check back with Cottam soon and see if Notre Dame picks up their interest in Cottam. He seems very interested in visiting Notre Dame.
