Linebacker Brian Cushing is having an outstanding senior season. The senior has also started to play more offense recently with some impressive results.
"We won a big game last week," said Cushing. "We've got two games to go. I really think this is our year. I'm really excited about it."
The talented linebacker prospect has been tearing up the field recently after being banged up earlier this season.
"I have 84 tackles and eight sacks on defense," he said. "I also have two interceptions.
"I have 26 receptions for around 500 yards and 10 touchdowns on offense. I also have 45 carries for 275 yards and five touchdowns."
Cushing also hasn't forgotten about recruiting, but he hasn't made much progress on his official visits since we last spoke to him.
"I'm going to USC for the USC/Notre Dame game. I also have Louisville for December 17th for my other official," said Cushing. "I know I'll visit Miami, Virginia and Notre Dame for sure. I just need to get them set up."
Cushing says he's not sure when he'll be taking his visits.
"If we make it to the finals that game will be on December 4th," he said. "So I won't be able to make visits that weekend. I'm kind of wating to see what happens with that. I'll get them set up soon."
One thing is certain, Cushing won't be announcing any time soon.
"I plan to take all my visits and announce on signing day," said Cushing.
Are there a couple teams standing out to Cushing right now?
"I'd say USC and Notre Dame are kind of ahead of the others right now," Cushing said. "That could change with my visits, but that's where I am right now."
Comments: The Irish remain in good shape to land Cushing. A good showing out in Los Angeles when the Irish play USC would certainly help their chances. We expect the Irish to either try to bring Cushing in on December 10th, or wait until January to have him visit.
