Safety prospect Ray Herring has finished his senior season for Holy Trinity Episcopal high school and will now turn his attention to recruiting.
"I finished with nine interceptiosn and 76 tackles. That was in eight games," said Herring. "I returned one of those for a touchdown. I played strong safety this year."
Herring has also set up three of his official visits so far.
"I have Notre Dame on December 3rd, Georgia Tech on December 17th, and Tennessee on January 14th," Herring said.
"I'm not sure what I'm going to do with my last two visits. I'm looking at some schools. I really don't know when I'll decide which schools to visit. I plan to take all five of my visit, probably."
We asked Herring when he might make a commitment to a school.
"I don't know," he said. "I guess when I get that feeling in my gut. I might just commit to a school right then or I might still decide to take all five of my visits."
We asked the Melbourne, Fla. native if he had some top schools at this point.
"I'd say Tennessee and Notre Dame, and Georgia Tech. That would be my top three," Herring said.
What does he like about the Irish?
"Notre Dame is on national TV every week," he said. "That and the degree means a lot."
Comments: The Irish have been high on Herring's list since the beginning of recruiting. He said he plans to take some of his family with him on his Notre Dame visit. With all Florida kids, we really can't speculate if the Irish will land Herring until after he visits Notre Dame. We'll certainly call him after the banquet to ge this reaction.
