Philadelphia prospect Derrell Hand has set four of his official visits.
"I've already visited Michigan State," said Hand. "I have a visit to Wisconsin on December 10th, Miami on December 17th, and I just set my last visit to Notre Dame on January 15th."
Hand said he enjoyed his first experience on an official visit.
"I liked it at Michigan State," said Hand. "I had a great time. They whipped up on Wisconsin pretty good. I liked it there a lot."
We asked Hand how he went about cheering considering two of his top teams were playing each other.
"You have to cheer for the team that you're at right now," he said with a laugh. "I cheered for Michigan State."
We also asked Hand if he watched how his favorite teams were playing, and if it had any impact on how he judged his favorite teams.
"It does a little bit," he admitted. "But I realize that I'm not playing, and the guys I will be playing with probably aren't playing. I just watch how aggressive they are and if I think I can fit into their defense."
The Philadelphia native also said he knows what he'll be looking for on his official visits.
"I'm just looking at the overall environment and how I get along with everyone," Hand said. "I'm also looking at their academics and which school gives me the best chance to succeed in both football and school."
The defensive tackle prospect also admitted one school might have a slight lead at this point.
"I think Michigan State has one up on everyone right now, but that's because I've visited there," he said. "That could change."
Hand also says he plans to take all his visits before deciding.
"I'll take all my visits," Hand said. "I want to visit Notre Dame so I'll take all my visits. I'll make my decision after the Notre Dame visit."
Comments: Michigan State made quite an impression on Hand. He told me he thought about committing, but wanted to look at all his options. The Irish have been high on his list for a long time. We think he'll wait to visit Notre Dame before deciding.
