Maualuga Set For USC Official Visit This Weekend

Eureka, Calif. linebacker Rey Maualuga has set another official vist. The 6-2, 235-pound top linebacker prospect will be visiting USC this weekend as the Trojans take on Notre Dame. We spoke with Maualuga to find out the latest on his interest in Notre Dame. Will the Irish get a visit?

Linebacker Rey Maualuga is set for an official visit to USC this weekend.

"I've already visited Nebraska and Oregon, and I have scheduled a visit to USC this weekend to watch them play Notre Dame," said Maualuga.

The Irish have been on his radar all along, but it appears the Irish might be out of the mix.

"They told me I can't go to Notre Dame until I raise my test score," Maualuga said of the Irish coaching staff. "I tried to sign up for the December test but they said I was too late. The next date isn't until January. So by the time I take the test and get the scores back, it will probably be too late. I won't get my scores back until late February I guess."

Maualuga says he could be making his final decision soon.

"Oregon is my leader," Maualuga said. "I'm leaning towards them. I also like USC so I'm excited to see them. I might make my decision soon."

We asked Maualuga if he planned on taking any other visits after his visit this weekend.

"I might, but probably not," he said.

Comments: Maualuga is right. He won't have his test scores back until February if he can't take his test in December. That will take the Irish out of the running for his service. We do think he had a strong interest in Notre Dame, but the Irish appear out of the race.
