Plan Changes For Eubanks

<P>St. Paul, Minn. offensive lineman Rafael Eubanks was scheduled to visit Notre Dame this weekend. Those plans have changed according to Eubanks. Irish Eyes spoke with the 6-3, 290-pound offensive guard prospect to see where the Irish stand with Eubanks. Are the Irish out of the picture for this talented player?

"It was a shock," said Rafael Eubanks of finding out the news that Irish head coach Tyrone Willingham had been fired. "I have to say I was definitely disappointed. I spoke with coach Willingham on the phone and he's a great man with great character. It was a shock to me."

Eubanks said he's talked with Notre Dame since the firing.

"I talked to Jimmy Gonzales and my dad talked to coach Mattison. They both told us to be patient," said Eubanks. "Jimmy told me that they might not be able to hold a recruiting weekend until January 22nd and to stay patient."

We asked Eubanks what he plans to do at this point.

"I'm just going to wait it out and see what happens with Notre Dame. I'll take my visits and see what happens," said Eubanks. "Everyone was quick to point out that Notre Dame was still Notre Dame. They were one of my top schools and that hasn't changed."

We asked Eubanks if he still planned to visit Notre Dame.

Definitely," said Eubanks. "I'm keeping that visit open. I still want to visit there."

Comments: Eubanks has always had the Irish as one of his top schools and we feel he'll likely wait and see what happens. He's always planned on taking all of his visits so he won't be making a decision any time soon. Top Stories
