Smith Setting Visits

Edmond, Okla. two-way star Reggie Smith's senior season has ended. The 6-0, 190-pound Smith will not turn his attention to recruiting. Do the Irish still have a shot at Smith?

Oklahoma star Reggie Smith has started to set up his official visits.

"I've already visited USC," said Smith. "I'm planning on going to either Nebraska or Texas A&M next weekend. I'm probably going to (Oklahoma) on the Decemeber 17 for their banquet. After that, I'm not sure who I will visit."

The Irish have been on Smith's radar for a while. We asked Smith what he was thinking about Notre Dame after the news of Willingham's departure.

"That day, a few of their coaches were coming to visit me," he said. "The called and said they weren't coming any more. It was shocking. I don't think that was a fair deal."

Smith says he remains interested in Notre Dame.

"I'm still interested, but I'll just wait and see who they hire," he said. "I really don't know what to think about Notre Dame. We'll see what happens. I'd be interested in listening to the new coaching staff."

Comments: Many speculate Smith will end up at Oklahoma in the end, but the Irish have remained on his list. He seemed curios as to what will happen at Notre Dame. We'll check back after the Irish name a coach to get his reaction to the new coaching staff.
