Hord Impressed With Weis Conversation

Kansas City wide receiver D.J. Hord has been a top wide reciever prospect on Notre Dame's radar since the beginning of the recruiting season. The 6-2, 190-pound speedster has had the Irish near the top of his favorite list all season. Hord recently spoke with new Irish head coach Charlie Weis, and we spoke with Hord to get his reaction to their conversation.

Wide receiver D.J. Hord was one of the first Irish prospects contacted by new Irish head coach Charlie Wies.

I talked to coach Weis yesterday. It was a good conversation," Hord said. "He told me he was excited to step in and put the Notre Dame program back on the winning track.

"He said he really needed some tall, fast receivers and top skill position players to help build his offense around and he wanted me to be a part of that."

Hord actually has an in-home visit on Tuesday night with Notre Dame.

"We talked about setting up a visit and we have a graduate assistant, coach Klunder, he's coming in tonight to talk to me and my parents," said Hord. "He's going to fill me in on the situation and talk to me about what they plan to do."

Hord said he felt good and relieved about the Notre Dame situation after speaking with Weis.

"I was real glad I could talk to coach Weis<" he said. "I really like where he's headed with their offense. I feel a lot better about the situation right now."

We didn't get to spend much time speaking with Hord because he was expecting Klunder at any minute.

Comments: The Irish still appear to be in very good shape with Hord. Wisconsin will get a visit from Hord this weekend and Kansas State (12-10 visit) and LSU (1-21) are the others in the race for this top prospect.
