Offensive lineman Paul Duncan has officially visited four schools at this point with one visit remaining. Duncan was set to take that visit on Dec. 3 to Notre Dame and make his decision shortly after. That was until the Irish decided to make a coaching change.
Duncan said he has had a chance to speak with the new Irish head coach, and he was impressed with their initial conversation.
"I talked to coach Weis. It went great," said Duncan. "It wasn't a very long conversation, but I liked what he had to say."
We asked Duncan what he and Weis talked about.
"He was wondering where I stood," said Duncan. "He told me he still wants me and wants to set up an official visit right away. He said he'd call me some time later this week to set it up."D
uncan said they also talked about Weis' offense a little bit.
"He just talked about where he wanted to take the offense and the success he's had<" he said. "He told me that he can definitely prepare us for Saturdays, but he also can prepare us for Sundays and he's right. He's had a lot of success with that."
So where does Duncan stand?
"We've kind of penciled in a date of January 8 for my visit," Duncan said. "We need to finalize that. I'm just going to wait and see what happens and take my official visit there. I still think Notre Dame is my leader at this point."
We asked Duncan if he was following the assistant coaching search.
"Yes I am. I am interested to see what happens," he said.
Comments: Good news for Irish fans. The Irish need offensive tackles and Duncan has never wavered on his interest in Notre Dame. He had said he'd take his official visit to Notre Dame before making his final decision. That decision is just going to come a little bit later than expected for Duncan. UCLA, Duke and LSU are the others currently in the mix for Duncan.
