Linebacker Kevin Washington recently opened up his recruiting with an official visit to Wisconsin.
"I liked it there pretty well," Washington said of Wisconsin. "I like the coaches and they have a lot of nice things there. I told them I wouldn't do anything until I saw Notre Dame and talked to them again."
Washington is hoping to see Notre Dame again very soon.
"We're trying to take a visit there on January 7th or whenever coach Weis will be there," said Washington. "I talked to him once before, but it's hard to really know someone until you've met them. We're planning on visiting there for January 7th."
We asked Washington how his conversation went with Weis when the two spoke.
"It went pretty well," he said. "He talked about where he wanted to go with the program and what his plan was to get there. He seemed like he had a good idea of what he wanted to do. It seems like a good fit for me still."
We asked Washington what his future plans are with recruiting.
"I'm going to take my Notre Dame visit and then figure out what I want to do," said Washington. "It's down to those two schools. I told Wisconsin that I needed to see Notre Dame again and what is going to happen there. I just want to talk to coach Weis and get a feel for him and what he plans to do."
Did Wisconsin offer Washington on his visit?
"Yes, they did," Washington said.
Washington says he should know soon where he plans to attend school.
"I'll know shortly after my visit to Notre Dame," said Washington when asked when he'll make his final decision. "If that goes well, it should be shortly after my visit."
Comments: The Irish appear to be solid with Washington. A good visit combined with a positive impression of the coaching staff should secure Washington's commitment again. We'll check back soon with Washington and see if he's confirmed for January 7th.
