Five-star linebacker prospect Brian Cushing has set his visit schedule for January.
"I've already taken a visit to Louisville," said Cushing. "I have USC on January 16th, Miami on January 21st and Florida on January 24th."
Cushing had been interested in Notre Dame but seemed pretty upset with the firing of Tyrone Willingham earlier, and we asked his thoughts on Notre Dame currently.
"I was pretty upset because I liked Tyrone Willingham," said Cushing. "But that stuff happens, and I like coach Weis a lot."
We asked Cushing if he's spoken with coach Weis and his impression of the new Irish coach if he had.
"I've spoken with him plenty of times. He's a professional coach and he's going to get the job done at Notre Dame," said Cushing of Weis. "I like what he has to say."
Will Cushing be visiting Notre Dame?
"No, probably not," said Cushing. "I've already visited there. It will all come down to me meeting coach Weis and meeting some of the assistant coaches. I don't think I need to take a visit there."
Cushing says he's still considering Notre Dame despite his decision to not take a visit to Notre Dame.
"Just because I'm not visiting doesn't mean that I'm not considering them," said Cushing. "I'm considering them with the others that I'm visiting."
USC has been rumored to be his leader. We asked him if the Trojans were leading for his signature.
"Yeah, they are," Cushing said. "Miami or Florida" was his response when asked who the next team on his list would be.
Irsh head coach Charlie Weis will get his shot to make a good impression very soon.
"Coach Weis is coming for an in-home visit on Monday the 3rd," said Cushing. "I'm looking forward to meeting him."
Comments: Notre Dame still appears to be hanging in there. I still believe they'll have to convince him to visit to have a real shot. Cushing did tell us that he'll likely wait until signing day to announce his decision.
