Duncan Close to a Decision?

Dallas, Ga. offensive lineman Paul Duncan is set to take his final visit this weekend to Notre Dame. The 6-6, 285-pound offensive tackle also had an in-home visit last night with new Irish offensive line coach John Latina. We spoke with Duncan shortly after his in-home visit to get his impression of Latina and his future plans for his commitment.

Offensive line prospect Paul Duncan said he was very impressed with new Irish offensive line coach John Latina.

"It went really well," said Duncan of his visit with Latina. "I've talked to him a couple of times because he was recruiting me at Ole Miss. It was nice to finally meet him."

We asked Duncan for his impression of Latina.

"I really liked the way he presented himself," Duncan said. "He was straight up. He definitely knows what it takes. He knows what he wants, and you better give it to him. He definitely seemed like a guy I could play for. He also seems like a guy you could joke around with when it wasn't all business."

Duncan said Latina was very honest when the two were speaking.

"What I liked about him was he was going to tell you the truth," Duncan said. "He was very straight-forward and he'd tell you his opinion if you weren't doing a good job or whatever. He said he was learning like I was about Notre Dame and didn't have all the answers right now, but he said he was really excited about the future there."

The Scout.com four-star prospect was down to Notre Dame, LSU and Duke the last time we spoke with him.

"Coach Saban leaving kind of hurt LSU," Duncan said. "He was a major factor there and a major factor in their success. That kind of dropped them. I'll decide between Notre Dame and Duke now."

Next on Duncan's list is his visit to Notre Dame. Duncan said he could end up making his decision on his official visit.

"If everything went right I could see myself deciding while I'm there," said Duncan. "We'll see what happens."

Comments: The Irish appear to be in great shape with Duncan. We'd say he's the most likely candidate for a commitment after the weekend visits.
