Turkovich Set For Irish Visit

With one final visiting remaining, Wayne, Pa. offensive lineman Michael Turkovich is set to take his official visit to Notre Dame this weekend. The 6-7, 286-pound offensive tackle propsect says he'll be deciding soon. Where do the Irish stand with Turkovich?

Offensive lineman Michael Turkovich is winding down his recruiting season.

"Notre Dame will be my last visit," Turkovich said. "I'll visit there and then decide sometime after that."

Turkovich also had a visitor today from new Irish offensive line coach John Latina.

"Coach Latina came by today," Turkovich said. "I really liked him a lot. He coached a player from my school at Clemson who's now in the NFL. He also knows my coach really well and they're good friends."

We asked Turkovich what he liked about Latina.

"I just liked the fact that he was really honest with me," Turkovich said. "He didn't sugar coat anything at all. He told me the truth about what he expected and the situation at Notre Dame. He definitely seems like a coach I could play for."

Is it possible that Turkovich might commit with a knockout visit to Notre Dame?

"I don't think so," he said. "I want to talk it over with my parents and my coach before deciding. I want to wait and let it sink in a week and talk it over with them."

The Scout.com three-star player attends Valley Forge Military Academy so we asked if his parents would be joining him on his visit this weekend.

"They're going to drive there and meet me there," he said. "I'm going to fly out of Philly. I'll just meet them there when I get there."

Does Turkovich have a leader heading into his final visit?

"I wouldn't say I have a leader," he said. "I haven't seen Notre Dame yet so I want to see Notre Dame so I have something to compare the others to."

Turkovich says he's narrowed his list down to three at this point, however.

"Notre Dame, Boston College and Wisconsin are the three I'm considering right now," Turkovich said.

Comments: The Irish look to be in good shape with Turkovich heading into the visit. He seems anxious to see Notre Dame, and we wouldn't be surprised if he made a decision shortly after his visit to Notre Dame. Will follow up with Michael when he returns from his visit on Sunday.
