Philadelphia defensive lineman Derrell Hand is winding down the recruiting process. The 6-4, 300-pound defensive line prospect has just one visit left to Notre Dame.
"I'm only taking one more visit," Hand said. "I go to Notre Dame next weekend. After that I'm done and I'll make my decision."
Hand said he hasn't had any in-home visits this week, but he's had a few teams stop by his school.
"Coach White from Wisconsin stopped by the school, and Notre Dame's new defensive line coach, coach Oliver, he stopped by the school as well," Hand said.
We asked Hand what his first impression of Oliver was.
He left a real good first impression," Hand said of Oliver. "He seemed like a real good guy. We had a pretty good conversation. I got a good vibe from him. I just need to head down there and see what things are like down there."
The Scout.com three-star lineman said he does plan to have some in-home visits next week.
"I think all three schools will be in next week," Hand said. "I also think I'll have some in-home visits after my visit to Notre Dame before I decide."
The three schools Hand is considering currently are Michigan State, Wisconsin and Notre Dame. We asked Hand if he had a leader at this point.
"Not yet," he said. "I'll just take a visit to Notre Dame and then I'll start thinking about that. I need to check out Notre Dame first. I'm looking forward to it."
Hand said he is looking forward to the day his decision is final and recruiting is over.
"I'd like to have this over and done with as soon as possible," he said. "I'll try to make my decision sometime within a week after my Notre Dame visit."
Comments: We can't seem to get a good read on Hand right now. He doesn't seem overly excited about any one school in particular at this point. We should know more after his visit in two weeks.
