Schwapp Excited For Visit

Hartford, Conn. fullback prospect Asaph Schwapp says he's looking forward to his only official visit this weekend. The Irish commitment has remained firm in his decision to attend Notre Dame. All that's left for Schwapp now is to meet the Irish coaching staff.

Fullback commitment Asaph Schwapp hasn't visited Notre Dame since this summer, and he says he's thrilled to be going back this weekend.

"I'm still coming and I'm really excited," Schwapp said. "I'm really looking forward to meeting the new coaches and the players. I'm looking forward to seeing Notre Dame again."

Schwapp says that Irish head coach Charlie Weis has done a good job of keeping in touch with him since being named as Notre Dame's head football coach.

"I've talked to coach Weis a few times. He's a really great guy," Schwapp said of Weiss. "I really get along well with him, and I'm excited about his offense. I can't wait to get on the field and play for him."

The 6-0, 240-pound fullback hasn't spoken yet with his position coach Michael Haywood, yet, but he says he's looking forward to that.

"I haven't spoken to any of the assistants yet," Schwapp said. "Coach Weis said they'd be getting in touch with me soon. I'm looking forward to talking to him and meeting him this weekend."

Also traveling with Schwapp on his visit will be his aunt, uncle and cousin.

"They've never been there," he said. "They're going to love it there. I know they will."

Schwapp says he believes that everything will work out better in the end for him.

"I just think everything happens for a reason," he said. "I'm really looking forward to playing for coach Weis." Top Stories
