Julian Williams Update

New Bern, N.C. offensive lineman Julian Williams is a new name for the Irish. The 6-4, 290-pound offensive line prospect has some impressive offers already, and has already taken two of his official visits. Is Williams interested in Notre Dame? What did he have to say about the Irish?

North Carolina offensive line prospect Julian Williams is a new name on the radar for the Irish.

"I got a call from coach Oliver awhile ago," Williams said. "We're in the process of setting up a visit to Notre Dame on Jan. 21. We haven't finalized that, yet."

Williams also said that Oliver is a familiar name to him.

"Coach Oliver was recruiting me while he was at South Carolina," Williams said. "I know him pretty well. He's a pretty cool guy. Them coming in late won't bother me because I've known coach Oliver for awhile."

A number of other schools are also interested in Williams at this point.

"I have offers from Tennessee, North Carolina State, North Carolina, E. Carolina, Virginia Tech and Maryland right now," Williams said. "Those are the main ones."

He's also taken his first two official visits of the recruiting season.

"I've been to Virginia Tech and E. Carolina," he said. "I'm going to visit North Carolina State this weekend."

Does Williams have a favorite at this point?

"I'd say North Carolina State is my favorite," he said when asked.

We asked Williams if he was excited when Notre Dame called him.

"Yeah, I was really excited," he said. "I'll just have to take a visit and see what I think of Notre Dame."

Comments: Keep an eye on Williams. He seemed genuinely excited to hear from Notre Dame. We'll call back soon to see if he's confirmed his visit to Notre Dame.
