North Carolina native Julian Williams said he enjoyed his official visit to North Carolina State.
"The visit went well, but I didn't commit," said Williams of his visit to North Carolina State this past weekend. "I liked it there. I had a good time, but I didn't commit."
Williams also had some company on Monday as an Irish assistant coach visited him.
"Coach Haywood came by my house today," Williams said. "He came to talk to my parents about Notre Dame and what they can do for me. I really liked coach Haywood. He's a very straight-forward guy. I can deal with a person like that. My parents liked him too. They clicked with him well."
We asked Williams if he still planned to visit Notre Dame.
"I'm going up there this Friday," he said.
While Williams is making the trip, he's not sure if his parents can make it.
"We're trying to work that out," he said. "Since the University can't pay for them to fly, I don't know if they can make it. We'll see if we can work that out."
The last time we spoke with Williams he had North Carolina State as his leader.
"They're still in the lead," Williams said of the Wolfpack. "But all my teams still are in the running. I'm still looking at all of them."
Comments: There have been many reports that Williams committed to North Carolina State over the weekend. He denied that when asked by us yesterday, but there can be no question they lead the race. The Irish should get a chance with a visit. It's hard to gauge William's interest as the Irish haven't been recruiting him for long. We likely won't know anything about his true level of interest until after his official visit.
