Bennett Schedules Irish Visit

Birmingham, Ala. is home to two-way player Earl Bennett. The 6-1, 200-pound Bennett is being recruited as both a wide receiver and defensive back by a number of schools. The Irish recently visited Bennett, and he scheduled a visit to Notre Dame. We spoke with Bennett on Wednesday to get his thoughts on Notre Dame.

Alabama defensive back Earl Bennett recently had a visit from Irish coach Bill Lewis.

"I just had coach Lewis here today," Bennett said. "I really liked him. He obviously has a lot of experience. He told me they were very impressed with my film, and they wanted me to come on a visit to see Notre Dame. He then told me a little bit about the school."

Bennett said he scheduled a visit to Notre Dame.

"I'm visiting Notre Dame on the Nov. 28," Bennett said. "I'm visiting Vanderbilt this weekend. I've already taken a visit to Southern Miss., UAB and Kentucky."

We asked Bennett what he thought when the Irish started recruiting him.

"I was really excited," he said. "They have a great tradition and an excellent school. My father was really happy to hear that, and I think my mom likes it well. She likes the academic side of it."

Have the Irish offered Bennett?

"They haven't yet," said Bennett when asked. "Coach Lewis took my film back to show the rest of the coaches. He said he was really impressed and he was sure they would be as well, and they would definitely offer."

So what kind of player is Bennett?

"I had 3,000 all-purpose yards and 30 touchdowns on offense," Bennett said. "I also had nine interceptions and 50 tackles on the year. My 40 time is 4.41. I ran that at the Ole. Miss camp and the Auburn camp."

Comments: The Irish have a great shot at landing Bennett if they offer. We'll know more after his official visit. Top Stories
