Irish Gaining Ground With Wilson

Akron, Ohio defensive end Lawrence Wilson says he's inching closer to a decision. We spoke with Wilson on Wednesday evening to get an update on where he stands in his decision at this point.

Defensive end prospect Lawrence Wilson says he's getting closer to making his final decision. "I've narrowed it down to three," Wilson said of his favorite list. "I'm down to Notre Dame, Ohio State and Florida."

So he won't visit Michigan after all?

"No, I'm down to these three," Wilson said.

The Irish did have seven assistant coaches visit him on Sunday, and now that he's had time to digest the conversation, we asked Wilson what he thought of his in-home visit with Notre Dame.

"I liked it. It really made a big impression on me," Wilson said of the recent Irish in-home visit. "I think it made a big impression on me."

We asked Lawrence when he plans to make a decision.

"I'm going to sit down with my folks and I'll have a decision by the end of the month," he said. "I'll talk to them and then wait and see when it hits me."

Does Wilson plan to visit any schools on unofficial visits or have any more in-home visits?

"I don't think I'll take any more visits," Wilson said. "I might have some in-home visits, but I don't think I need it. I think I might just make my decision based on the information I have."

Last week the Irish were fading. Where do they stand now?

"They're climbing up the ladder right now," he said.

Despite the recent rise, the Irish still have some work to do before landing him. <{>

"I'd say Ohio State and Florida still kind of lead with Notre Dame slightly trailing," Wilson said when asked which team was leading at this point.

Will Wilson wait until signing day to announce?

"No, it will be sooner than that," he said.

Comments: The Irish are moving up, but there is still work to be done. We think the longer this drags out, the better for Notre Dame. Top Stories
