"It was real nice," said Munir Prince of his junior day visit. "I liked all the facilities, the coaches, and I liked the fact that they talked academics first before football.
"I really enjoyed the visit. They all seemed like similar people to who I am."
Prince said he was also very impressed with the Notre Dame coaching staff.
"I met the whole coaching staff," Prince said. "They were great. I liked that almost all of them had NFL experience, and it seemed like they could give you a great shot to get to the next level if you have the talent to get there."
We asked Prince if the Irish offered him a scholarship.
"Yes they did," he said. "They said it would be in the mail in the next week or so.
"I was really excited about it. It shows that all my hard work is paying off."
Prince is currently committed to Iowa. We asked him if he was going to consider Notre Dame as well.
"I would put them right at the No. 2 spot with them pushing Iowa for the No. 1 spot. I really liked it there."
The talented St. Louis, Mo. native also attended the junior day with his family.
"I went with my mom and dad and my sister," he said. "They all thought it was great. They really liked the academic aspect of it, and they really liked the people there."
Will Prince be attending any more junior days or camps this year? "I don't know. I'm going to Notre Dame on April 2nd to a practice," he said. "We're going to sit down and plan my major, which is sports medicine. I'll know more about it then. I might go visit some other colleges, I don't know."
We asked Prince what he liked the most about his junior day experience.
"I'd say the people there," he said. "I liked Charlie Weis a lot. I really liked the running back coach there. They just got right to the point with me, which I really liked."
Comments: The visit from Prince came somewhat as a surprise to us. We spoke with Prince at the Army All-American combine and he said he didn't have much interest in the Irish at that point. The Irish coaching staff must've changed his mind and got him to attend junior day. It now appears Notre Dame will have a shot at this top running back. We'll check back with Prince soon to find out his future plans.
