Irish Get First Commitment

Irish coach Charlie Weis received his first commitment of the 2005 season. Irish Eyes just spoke with running back Munir Prince, and the 5-10, 175-pound speedster committed to Weis at today's junior day. Why did Prince pull the trigger?

Running back Munir Prince made a verbal commitment to head coach Charlie Weis today.

"It went really well," said Prince of his junior day experience. "I loved everything about it.

"I met with the Dean of Science and we talked about my major and my future. I found out what I needed to find out to accomplish what I'm setting out to accomplish."

Prince said Notre Dame gave him the best of both worlds.

"I chose Notre Dame because it will be easier for me to get into the profession I want to get into. Also, the football is outstanding so it was the best combination for me."

Is Prince excited about his commitment?

"I'm very excited. I'm really excited about going to Notre Dame. Coach Weis said he'd be down to see me on May 6th." he said.
