Defensive lineman Jason Pinkston has impressed a number of college coaches so far this spring.
"I just got an offer from Ohio State," Pinkston said. "I also have offers from Pitt, Penn State, West Virginia, Iowa, Maryland, Akron and Rutgers. Michigan and Connecticut have given me a verbal offer, but I don't have those in writing."
Pinkston also recently attended Notre Dame's junior day this past week and enjoyed the experience.
"It was pretty good," said Pinkston of his Irish visit. "They showed us around campus. They showed me what it's like to be a Notre Dame football player.
"I got to speak to some of the coaches. I talked to coach Weis for awhile. He told me to keep working on my grades, and that they liked me, but I didn't get an offer. He didn't really talk about an offer.
"We also got to check out the facilities. Their new building isn't finished yet, but that's going to be really nice when it is. I liked about everything about Notre Dame. The only thing I didn't like, I guess, is I'm not really sure if they're going to offer me."
Would Pinkston be interested if they did?
"I'm sure I would if they offered me," he said.
One school Pinkston does like is Pitt. The Pittsburgh native said he's always been a Panther fan.
"I grew up cheering for Pitt," Pinkston said. "I really like their new coaches there. Coach Wanstadt is great guy. I've been down to Pitt several times. I really like their whole staff."
What's next on the docket for Pinkston?
"I'm not really sure," he said. "I'm not going to decide early. I'm going to take my visits I think.
"I'm going to take a trip over to see Ohio State, Michigan and Akron some time soon.
"I'll try to narrow it down later this summer--get my schools down to a good number."
Comments: Pinkston didn't sound overly enthused with Notre Dame. He seemed disappointed the Irish didn't offer. That may happen in the future, however, so we'll keep following him. He doesn't plan to make a decision any time soon.
