Running back James Aldridge says he's set for another visit to Notre Dame this weekend.
"I'm still making it," said Aldridge when asked if he was planning to attend the Notre Dame spring game. "I'm excited about it."
Aldridge has already been to Notre Dame for a junior day so we asked him why he was visiting Notre Dame again.
"I want to come and take a closer look," Aldridge explained. "I basically came for a practice last time and we went home. I want to walk around on campus and get a better feel for the place. I'm hoping it makes my college decision more clear."
The 6-1, 215-pound Merrillville, Ind. native says he's also hoping to spend some time with the Irish coaching staff.
"I'm looking for them to explain exactly how I'll fit into their scheme," Aldridge said. "I just want to talk to them about how I'll fit into their package."
Aldridge also said he's building a good relationship with the Irish coaches already.
"I talk to coach Haywood the most," he said. "He's pretty cool. We get along great. I talk to coach Minter as well, and I get to talk to coach Weis now and again, but he's pretty busy."
What will be the deciding factors for Aldridge?
"Where I can play the earliest," Aldridge said when asked what important factors he was looking for in a school. "I want to play early and get the chance to play early."
Another top team has also started to come into the mix for Aldridge.
"USC is recruiting me real hard right now," Aldridge said. I like USC, but I'm still pretty high on Notre Dame.
"They (USC) haven't taken a running back in two years there, and after Reggie (Bush) and Lendale (White) leave, they don't have anyone. I think they're about to offer.
Will Aldridge give USC serious consideration?
"It makes things a little more complicated," Aldridge said. "I'm not sure what I plan to do with that."
Will Aldridge make a decision soon?
"I'm not sure," he said. "I wanted to. I still might. I've been thinking about taking it into the summer. I really don't know what I'm going to do."
Previously Oklahoma State had made a big impression on Aldridge after his visit. It appeared the Cowboys had taken a slight lead in the race for Aldridge's commitment.
"I think you're always pretty high on a school a couple days after visiting there. I'm pretty open again," he said when asked if Oklahoma State might have a slight lead at this point.
Comments: The Irish will have a shot to impress Aldridge again. It seems James is pretty open again at this point. Will USC get serious consideration? This should be an interesting race until the end.
