Offers Piling Up For Odrick

Jared Odrick is a 6-6, 285-pound offensive lineman from Lebanon high school (Pa.) that is being recruited by nearly every college in the country. Is Notre Dame on the long list of schools courting this talented player? Is Odrick interested in playing football in South Bend?

With the kind of size that Jared Odrick has, you have to think he'd be getting looks from a lot of college football programs.

Well, you'd be right as Odrick has over 20 scholarship offers from the likes of Oklahoma, LSU, PSU, Virginia, Iowa, Oregon, Miami, Florida and Virginia Tech.

Notre Dame is not among those that have offered, so I asked Jared if he had been receiving mail from the Irish coaching staff and if he had interest in playing for Notre Dame.

"Yeah, I am interested," responded Odrick. "They are sending me stuff saying that they are staying in touch and that they'd like to talk to me in May."

"I did speak with coach Latina awhile ago," he added.

Notre Dame has invited Odrick to their junior days, but he has decided not to take Notre Dame up on its invitations and instead Jared has decided to concentrate on the schools that have offered him a scholarship.

"It's not that I'm not interested in other schools," explained Odrick. "But if they aren't interested in offering me, they really aren't an option for me.

"I'll wait for May to come when they can come out and I can speak to them face to face."

Odrick said that he planned on taking some visits this summer to see some schools. When I asked him if Notre Dame would be a likely destination, he said that he definitely wanted to make it to South Bend.

As far as a date for his college decision, he won't decide anytime soon.

"It's the most important decision I'll make at this time in my life," Odrick said. "It's important because I want to be happy on the field and off the field, so I'll take all five of my visits"

Comments: There is no question that there are a lot of schools chasing this talented offensive lineman. Notre Dame hasn't offered many linemen, but if they don't offer Odrick soon, they may not have a chance in the end.
