Walls Still Has Two Favorites

This just in: Notre Dame needs cornerbacks. Notre Dame football coaches arel exploring the country this May looking for top corner prospects who can help solve their passing game problems. One of their top targets is Pittsburgh (Pa.) native Darrin Walls. The good news for Irish fans is Walls has the Irish as one of his favorites early in the recruiting season.

The offers keep on coming for corner prospect Darrin Walls.

"I'm up to 30 now I believe," said Walls when asked about his official offers. "I've had a lot of coaches come by my school—too many to list. A bunch of them also came to the Nike camp. I've also received a ton of calls from coaches. It's been pretty busy here."

Walls had been waiting on his call from Notre Dame.

"Coach Latina is supposed to call me (Monday)," he said. "I've talked with Notre Dame a bunch, but he is supposed to call me (Monday)."

The top East coast prospect earlier mentioned he might be attending some camps this summer. We asked Walls if he still planned to attend any camps.

"I don't think I'll go to any camps," he said. "My team is going to some 7-on-7 passing camps though. Notre Dame is having one and we're going to that one I know. I think we're going to go to a few others.

"I don't really have any unofficial visits lined up," he said. "Since I'm going to the passing camp, I don't think I'll go back to Notre Dame. I'll probably try to go to Michigan again."

The Irish and the Wolverines are still his two favorite schools at this point.

"Michigan was ahead before I visited Notre Dame," Walls said. "But Notre Dame caught up even with them after that. I really liked it there and I like coach Weis a lot.

"I'm still real interested in a lot of other schools. Florida, Pittsburgh, Penn State, West Virginia and Tennessee are some of the other schools I like. All of them have offered me."

Walls says he doesn't anticipate making an early decision at this point.

"I'm going to take all my visits," he said. "I want to check out a bunch of schools before I decide. I'm not sure when I'll take them yet."

Comments: Darrin and I talked for quite a bit actually. He seems very interested in recruiting as well and talked about some of the other top players and where they might be going. He's definitely very much aware of the top players and the schools they seem to like. Walls wasn't sure on the 7-on-7 passing camp dates. I'll try to find out what date that is scheduled for.
