Ryan Still Undecided

Cleveland, Ohio defensive end John Ryan remains undecided on his college choice. The 6-5, 220-pound Ryan has been trying to decide between Notre Dame and Boston College. We caught up with Ryan on Sunday night to find out when a final decision might be known. Does Ryan have a leader at this point?

"I don't have a decision yet," said John Ryan about making his college choice.

"I'm going to sit down and talk about it with my family tonight. I'll probably make my decision sometime next week."

Ryan also says he wants to discuss it with his coach as well before making his final decision.

"Coach Kyle has been doing this for years," Ryan said. "I'll want to talk to him about my final decision and see what he thinks."

Many Irish fans thought once Ryan got offered by Notre Dame Irish that he'd likely accept as he grew up a big Irish fan, but so far Boston College has been hard to turn down. We asked Ryan what he likes about the Eagles.

"With (former teammate) Jim (Ramella) being there, and he's a guy I've always looked up to, if it's good enough for him, there must be something good about it.

"I have a bunch of family in Boston. My whole dad's side of the family lives there. There's a bridge in downtown Boston that has my grandfather's name on it. And, it's a Jesuit school and I go to a Jesuit school."

Does that mean BC is in the lead right now?

"Definitely not," he said. "I.....I don't have....I want to sit down with my family before I say anything about a leader at this point. I really don't know what I'm going to do," he said.

When will he make his decision?

"Hopefully sometime next week," Ryan said. "I have finals this week so it's going to be crazy. I don't need the distraction."

Does that mean he'll announce it before his finals, maybe on Tuesday?

"I don't know, no, maybe on Friday. I don't really know," he said.

Comments: Ryan did indicate to me that he had an idea of where he might end up but wanted to talk with his parents first. This is the first time he had ever made any indication to me that he did have an idea of which school he was favoring. I do think a decision will be announced very soon. I couldn't begin to guess where he'll end up.
