Moore Sets Camps Schedule

Corner prospect Laron Moore had a busy month of May as college recruiters from across the country stopped into Midwest City high school (Oklahoma City, Okla.) to speak with his coach. Now that the May recruiting period is over, Moore will turn his attention to football camps.

For the last several years Laron Moore has terrorized defenses as a quarterback, but for his senior season he'll move to wide receiver and cornerback where he projects at the college level. In order to get exposure at those positions, Moore will be attending several football camps this summer.

"I'm going to go to camps at Texas Tech, Kansas State, LSU and maybe Oklahoma State," explained Moore.

Moore had talked about attending Notre Dame's camp in the past, so we ask why he wasn't planning a trip to South Bend.

"It just isn't going to work out," he replied. "I'd prefer to go to their camp, but it's just too far. The camps I'm going to are all one day camps, so we can drive to them, or I have relatives that we can stay with."

When the Irish coaches visited Midwest City high school, they indicated that they were very impressed with Moore and a scholarship offer could be on the way.

"No, they haven't offered me yet, not officially at least," said Moore when asked if he had received a scholarship from Notre Dame since we last spoke with him. "They said they really like me so I think they'll offer soon."

"Right now I have offers form Stanford, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Iowa State, Baylor, and Colorado State."

Moore reports a 3.85 GPA/23 ACT--September retest.

Comments: Laron is a very talented athlete and I expect that he'll end up receiving more offers when he attends the summer football camps. It would have helped him tremendously if he could have made it to the Notre Dame camp, although the Irish coaches did tell him that they were comfortable with his ability and it wasn't mandatory for him to come to camp to receive an offer.
