Two-way player Steve Brown has said he'd like to make a commitment to his school of choice sometime before his senior season. Brown has decided to take a look at a number of schools one more time before deciding. The latest trip for Brown was to Michigan for an academic day.
"I enjoyed it," said Brown of his Michigan unofficial visit. "I enjoyed meeting everyone. I was impressed with the academic side of it."
The Wolverines appear to be the team to beat, but Brown wouldn't confirm Michigan as his leader.
"I feel comfortable there," he said. "It's a good place, but I want to look at other places. I wouldn't say anyone is leading at this point."
Brown had mentioned previously that Notre Dame would be one of the schools he'll visit in the near future.
"I haven't scheduled that yet," he said of a visit to South Bend. "I'm hoping to schedule that for this week or the next. I need to call coach Minter and schedule that. I'll do that this week.
"I'm supposed to go to Purdue sometime soon, and Ohio State wants me to come over there so I might go there as well."
The plan is still to decide early according to Brown.
"I want to have it done before my season," Brown said. "I really don't know when I'll do it, and I don't really have any timeframe. I'll just announce when I feel like I'm sure."
We asked Brown what would be the deciding factors when he chose a school.
"Education will be important to me," he said. "I also want to play somewhere close to home so my parents can see me play. I'd also like to play early."
Which teams are still in the race?
"Michigan, Notre Dame, Purdue, Virginia, Louisville and Ohio State a little bit," Brown said.
Will Brown hold a press conference to announce his decision?
"No, I don't need any of that," he said. "I'll just call the coaches."
Comments: We still think Michigan is the team to beat. We think the Wolverines have a fairly sizable lead as well. Notre Dame will have likely one last shot to try to move up his list. We should know more soon on Brown.
