When you watch film of linebacker Anthony Lewis, it doesn't take long to understand why this talented prospect has over 30 offers. What's even more impressive is Lewis is making all these plays on the film while spending his first year on the defense side of the ball.
"I've had a pretty busy summer," said Lewis. "I've been working out a lot. We've been doing some seven-on-seven. I also went and visited Texas A&M already. I'm leaving tomorrow or Wednesday to see the Florida Gators."
Lewis already has an impressive list of offers including scholarships from schools Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Notre Dame. Is he interested in Notre Dame?
"Yeah, I'm interested," he said when asked. "I really don't know that much about them. I know they have a good program. I just need to go meet the coaches, view the campus and facilities, and get a better idea about Notre Dame.
"I have talked to their head coach. I called him when they offered me. I really like him a lot. He wants me to come up there and meet some of the coaches."
Will the Haltom high school standout make an unofficial visit to Notre Dame?
"Yeah, I'm going to make it up there," he said. "We had it schedule, but then we found out it was on father's day and my dad didn't want to do that then. We're going to make it up there sometime in the next month."
Besides Florida and Notre Dame, does Lewis have any other unofficial visit plans?
"I don't have any scheduled," he said.
Does Lewis have a list of favorites at this point?
"I really don't have a list," he said. "I'm narrowing it down, but I don't have a list at this time."
Lewis also said he'd like to make his decision sometime by the end of the senior season, and he also plans to take a few official visits during his season before making his final decision.
"It'll depend on how my unofficial visit goes there," was his response when asked if he'd take one of his official visits to Notre Dame.
Comments: Check out Lewis' film. He really has natural linebacker instincts and finds the ball carrier. It's a good sign that he wants to visit Notre Dame this summer, but I also think the Irish will have to try to get him on campus this summer to have a real shot at landing him. He just doesn't know enough about Notre Dame at this point.
