McNeil Down to Three

Notre Dame has an excellent shot to land Raeshon McNeil. It appears to be a two team race, with the Irish the front-runner.

It will not be long before Raeshon McNeil, CB, 6-0, 175-pounds, Mocksville, N.C., (Davie County) pulls the trigger. But all indications point towards South Bend.

McNeil recently took an unofficial visit to Virginia Tech, but don't look for him to end up in Blacksburg.

"It was alright," McNeil said of his unofficial visit. "They told me they took five defensive backs last year. They're only taking two this year, hopefully one cornerback and one free safety."

Whenever a recruit uses the term alright to describe an unofficial visit it is generally the kiss of death.

What about Virginia? Do the Cavaliers really need cornerbacks?

"I don't know how many defensive backs they took last year, but I know they need DBs (defensive backs) really bad."

What about Notre Dame?

"Notre Dame needs DBs bad, too," McNeil said. "Maybe a little bit worse."

So does Notre Dame still lead after McNeil's trek to Virginia Tech?

"Yes," McNeil replied.

As for a decision, McNeil is not exactly sure when that will happen.

"I really don't know when. Soon..."

SMITTY'S TAKE - If McNeil does not pick Notre Dame I will be shocked. It is that simple. It is only a matter of time.
