Terrence Austin, WR, 5-10, 165-pounds, Long Beach, Calif., (Poly) admitted that during his junior year he worried that he would be overlooked. Rather than being overlooked, Austin is rated as one of the top wide receivers in the country.
"I was really worried I would be overlooked," Austin said with a chuckle. "I really did. I saw all these guys last year that didn't get picked up. I am just so happy that I have all these opportunities."
Austin's recruitment is heating up.
"I now have nine offers," Austin said. "My latest one was from Notre Dame."
Not only did Austin receive an official offer from Notre Dame, but he has also set up his first official visit with the Irish as well.
"I set it up two or three weeks ago," Austin said of his official visit plans with Notre Dame. "I'm going to go out there on Oct. 15.
"Coach Polian told me it was going to be a really big weekend. He asked me if I wanted to come out for an official visit for the SC game, and I was like ‘yes!'"
Austin admitted that his top schools were still pretty much the same, UCLA, Notre Dame and Oregon, but he is not yet finished with a top five.
"I really don't have a top five yet, but those are still my top schools."
Austin has not close the door to anyone just yet, with California, Miami, Oregon State and Southern California as other schools that he is interested in among others.
SMITTY'S TAKE - Austin was excited about his official visit to Notre Dame. The Irish have an excellent chance to land the talented wide receiver, but his official visit will be key. It will be Austin's first trip to South Bend. Until otherwise proven, UCLA is the team to watch.
