Lewis Delays Irish Visit

Haltom City, Texas linebacker Anthony Lewis had planned to visit South Bend this week but that plan changed. We caught up with Lewis on Tuesday night to find out if he still planned to visit Notre Dame this summer.

Linebacker Anthony Lewis was said to be visiting South Bend earlier this week.

"I didn't make it," said Lewis of his visit to Notre Dame. "I was supposed to go on Monday, but my dad had something come up and we couldn't make it. I talked with coach Weis on Sunday. I'll have to reschedule it. I need to talk to my dad first and see when we can go."

We asked Lewis if he planned to reschedule the visit before his season started.

"Yeah, we'll go up there in the next few weeks. I want to go there before my season," he said.

Lewis recently returned from an unofficial visit to Florida.

"It was nice," he said of his Gator visit. "They have some nice athletic facilities. I got to see the school. I only got to talk with one coach, coach Mullen, because the rest were on vacation or something."

We asked Lewis if he planned on visiting any other schools this summer.

"I think I might visit LSU sometime soon," he said.

The Haltom high school star says he's trying to narrow his list down by the start of the season.

"I'm hoping to have it down to a top five or top four," Lewis said. "I'll take a couple of official visits before making my decision."

Comments: Lewis admitted to us last week that he didn't know a lot about Notre Dame. We think it's a good sign that he's intrigued enough to take an unofficial visit to South Bend. Like Daron Rose, we'll know more after his unofficial visit as to what kind of chance the Irish actually have to sign him.
