Quarterback Demetrius Jones told Irish Eyes last week that he planned to take an unofficial visit to South Bend this week.
"I haven't made that yet," said Jones when asked if he's scheduled his unofficial visit to Notre Dame. "I'm going to try to get up next week before the 10th (the day Jones starts two-a-days). I need to talk to my mom so she can get off work and go up there."
Jones and his mom recently visited Illinois and enjoyed the experience.
"My mom really liked it there," he said. "I always like it there. You always come back from a visit on a high, then you need to sit down and think about it. I need to get my mom to Notre Dame so she can meet the coaches and see everything."
The 6-3, 190-pound Jones says he's still hoping to make an early decision, but he also knows he won't rush his decision.
"Deep down in my heart I know I want to make an early decision," Jones said. "I want to take that pressure off myself and my team. I don't want it to be a distraction for my team. I'm just not ready yet to do that. I'm not totally sold and I'd be lying if I said I was ready.
"I really don't want to commit somewhere and then go back on that. I want to be 100 percent and know that is where I want to go, so I won't commit anywhere until I'm sure where I want to go."
We asked Jones if it was likely he will commit before his season?
"I don't know," he said. "I might just shut it down until after two-a-days and then see if I can make my decision. If not, it will be after my season."
Comments: Jones seems to really want to make his decision, but he also seems unsure at this point as to which school to choose. He did say Notre Dame and Illinois are still his leaders. Maybe his visit with Weis next week will swing his decision one way or another. Demetrius did say he'd get in touch with me when he's scheduled his unofficial visit.
