Brown Still Has Long List of Schools

Sergio Brown was an unknown heading into this spring, but that has changed. The Illinois product has received offers from some of the top schools in college football.

Proviso East High School is best known for its basketball prowess. Michael Finley of the Dallas Mavericks is still one of the NBA's most explosive players while Illinois senior guard Dee Brown is an All-American candidate for the Illini.

The best athlete at the school this year is probably Sergio Brown, S, 6-2, 194-pounds, Maywood, Ill. Brown is a do-it-all athlete that is likely going to end up playing safety at the college level. That has not stopped Brown from spreading his talents around Proviso East.

"I will play safety, wide receiver, some running back…kick return, punt return…and maybe some quarterback," Brown commented about the positions he might play this fall.

As for schools, Brown is still shopping his services.

"Illinois, Notre Dame, UCLA, Nebraska, New Mexico, Minnesota, Iowa, Northwestern…I'm still open really."

Recruits often become attached to certain college coaches. So I asked Brown which coaches he enjoyed speaking with?

"(Coach) Zook from Illinois, (coach) Lewis from Notre Dame; he's the defensive backs coach. Nebraska, I like to its coach. I haven't talked with UCLA's coach in a minute."

And finally, who is recruiting Brown the hardest right now?

"Probably Illinois and Notre Dame."
